Katie Peabody

Class of 2022

1) What grade did you join VINCL?

I joined NCL in 6th grade.

2) Which high school are you from?

I go to Northwood High School

3) Favorite Philanthropy? And why?

My favorite Charity has to be Race for the Cure. It is such a large event that goes on and I feel so inspired just to be a small part of it. Next year I will be a ticktocker representative for this charity which I am really excited about. Race for the Cure is a philanthropy that invests in breakthrough research that affects so many people and there is still so much more that can be done. The race does so much to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.  I especially enjoy races because of the environment they create. Seeing the survivors and all the people and families supporting them is truly amazing.

4) Best memories of Vista Irvine NCL?

My favorite memories I have made during NCL have always been with my twin sister and my mom. When my mom was in charge of the cultural event for our class of 2022 she chose “Legally Blonde” the musical at UCI. All of the mothers and daughters for our large class of 24 ticktockers came so it was really fun especially since my mom and I have made it a tradition to go to as many musicals as possible.

5) Where are you headed after high school? What will your field of study be?

Well as an incoming Sophomore at the moment I have no idea where I will be going to college. But I am very excited about what is ahead of me in the next 3 years at Northwood.

6) What advice would you give to a new Ticktocker joining Vista Irvine NCL?

To a new member of NCL, I would have to say the most important thing would be to make the most out of your experience. I never knew how much of an impact NCL would have on me as a person. I never knew I could be so confident in my abilities and accomplish so many things including being the Freshman VP, recognized as a Distinguished Timberwolf and being the first underclassman to ever be a secretary for ASB at my school in the upcoming Year. Coming into high school I had so many opportunities which included Cheer which has become one of my favorite things. I look forward to being on varsity in my sophomore year. Coming into NCL l got to make some genuine friends and to contribute in some important causes so whether it is going out of your comfort zone,  applying to be a board member to your class, or just getting to know some of the girls that go to a different school than you just enjoy and embrace every moment you volunteer and strive to be better every day.

7) Favorite inspirational quote or saying?

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

― Wayne Gretzky

NCL Vista Irvine are so proud of Katie’s achievements in her freshman year of high school. She demonstrates in every way the spirit of the mission of NCL – community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.

Katie was the only freshman to receive Northwood High School’s Outstanding Timberwolf Award for her outstanding accomplishments and leadership. “Her squad looks up to her because she takes initiative for her team. As the Freshman VP of her class she has shown and proven not only to her team members but also her high school peers how much she cares about their well being. “
